Biscuits and Gravy Casserole is a quick and easy breakfast that only takes 5 ingredients and can feed a whole family. What better way to start your day than with a hearty casserole where you get a taste of the best parts of breakfast in each and every bite?

Biscuits and Gravy Casserole is the perfect casserole for Sunday brunches at home, Christmas mornings, or when you are hosting! Serve your casserole alongside a fresh pot of coffee and a bowl of fruit, and everyone will be set to take on the day.
Below you'll find my classic ingredients we love, but you can get as creative as you want with additional ingredients.

Ingredients

- Gravy Mix - I use Tony Chachere's White Gravy Mix. You can also use a regular gravy mix and spice it up with 1 tablespoon of your favorite creole seasoning!
- Milk - I used whole milk, but skim and 2% work great too.
- Breakfast Sausage
- Biscuits - Try not to use the extra flaky biscuits. They will still work, but you'll have a thick layer of biscuits. I tend to use Pillsbury Buttermilk Grands. Grab two of the 5 biscuit packages. You'll need 9 biscuits for a 9x9 baking dish.
- Cheddar Cheese - We prefer cheddar, but most cheeses work fine too! Use Colby Jack, Monterey Jack, pepper jack, white cheddar...anything that melts easily!

Step-By-Step Instructions

- Preheat oven to 350℉. Make your white gravy in a mixing bowl by whisking together your gravy mix, 1 cup of water, and the whole milk.
- Place gravy mixture in a stock pot on the stove and bring to a boil. Once boiling, bring to a simmer until the gravy thickens.
- In a skillet, brown your breakfast sausage and drain off grease. Set aside.
- Spray your 9x9 dish with nonstick spray and then lay down biscuits on the bottom. Cover your biscuits with your cooked sausage, then cover sausage with 1 ½ cups of white gravy.

- Cover your biscuits with your cooked sausage, then cover sausage with 1 ½ cups of white gravy.
- Top with cheese and place in oven uncovered. Cook for 20-25 minutes (depending on what your biscuit packaging suggests).

Additions and Substitutions
Casseroles are a blank canvas for customization. Here are some things to try:
- Add onions (green, yellow, whatever you like!), mushrooms, tomatoes, green chilies.
- Try bacon intead of suasage
- Add hot sauce (I love this one!) or a different kind of cheese
