This quick 5-ingredient Biscuits and Gravy Casserole is an easy breakfast that can feed the whole family. Ready in under 30 minutes, it's a recipe that will have everyone asking for seconds.
Preheat oven to 350℉. Make your white gravy in a mixing bowl by whisking together your gravy mix, 1 cup of water, and the whole milk.
Place gravy mixture in a stock pot on the stove and bring to a boil. Once boiling, bring to a simmer until the gravy thickens.
In a skillet, brown your breakfast sausage and drain off grease. Set aside.
Spray your 9x9 dish with nonstick spray and then lay down biscuits on the bottom.
Cover your biscuits with your cooked sausage, then cover sausage with 1 ½ cups of white gravy.
Then, top with cheese and place in oven uncovered. Cook for 20-25 minutes (depending on what your biscuit packaging suggests).
Notes
Storage: Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator up to 3-4 days. Reheat individual portions in the microwave or oven until warmed through. You can also freeze this casserole for up to 2 months, just be sure to thaw overnight before reheating. To make ahead, assemble the full casserole (unbaked) the night before, cover, and refrigerate. Let it sit at room temperature for about 30-40 minutes before baking and serving.Tips:
Bring gravy to a full boil on the stovetop first — so it thickens properly before going into the oven.
Arrange biscuits with a little space between them — so they have room to fully rise.
Make it spicy! I personally love adding hot sauce to serve for this biscuit bake.
Customize with add-ins — sautéed onions, mushrooms, bell peppers or diced tomatoes stirred into the gravy are delicious options for more flavor.
