How to make tiramisu
Ingredients you'll need:
- 5 Egg Yolks (room temp)
- 5 Egg Whites (room temp)
- 4 tablespoon Sugar
- 2 - 8 oz Mascarpone Cheese (room temp)
- 7 oz Pack of Lady Fingers
- 1 ½ Cups Coffee or Expresso (chilled)
- 2 tablespoon Cocoa Powder
- 2.6 oz Chocolate Bar (dark or milk chocolate, shaved)
Instructions for Tiramisu:
Step 1 : Separate 5 egg yolks and whites placing all yolks in one mixing bowl and all egg whites in another. Place 2 tablespoon of sugar in each bowl and mix. Mix until egg whites have peaks. Yolks will have a similar consistency.
Step 2 : Then, fold in 8 oz of mascarpone cheese to egg yolks. Add the remaining 8 oz of mascarpone cheese to the egg whites and fold in. Do not over mix.
Step 3 : Dip the lady fingers into the liquid coffee or expresso for only 3 seconds. You don’t want them mushy.
Step 4 : Lay the lady fingers out in your pan next to one another and then coat them with the egg yolk mixture using a spatula to level it out. Top this with a generous portion of cocoa powder and shaved chocolate.
Step 5 : Add another layer of lady fingers (lay them in same pattern as bottom layer) and then coat with egg white mixture. Level out with a spatula. Top this with a generous portion of cocoa powder and shaved chocolate.
Step 6 : Cover and refrigerate for 12-24 hours before serving.
