Crème Brûlée: creamy, decadent, indulgent, delicious, and oh-so-simple to make right in your home kitchen. The french name and brûléeing (caramelizing) the sugar with a torch make people think that this dessert is more difficult to make than it is. My recipe will walk you through step-by-step. The only thing you have to worry about is how you are going to not eat each full ramekin yourself.
Crème Brûlée ingredients are more commonplace than you probably ever thought. It's simply heavy whipping cream, salt, egg yolks, sugar, and vanilla. Seriously - that's it!
Using a kitchen torch is probably the only new thing to navigate for most home cooks and I understand the hesitation! Do not overwhelm yourself, follow your torch's safety notes and instructions, keep kids and pets away, pull up your hair, roll up sleeves, etc. You got this!
Ingredients you'll need:
- 2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
- ⅛ teaspoon Salt
- 5 Egg Yolks
- ½ Cup Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Step 2 : Pour heavy cream and salt into a sauce pan. Heat up slowly on the stove.
Step 3 : While cream is warming, crack 5 eggs reserving the yolks in a mixing bowl.
Step 4: Add sugar to egg yolks and mix with a whisk.

Step 5: Remove warm cream from stove and mix in vanilla extract.
Step 6: Pour in ⅓ of the heavy cream mixture into the egg mixture and stir. Then, pour that egg and cream mixture back into the remaining heavy cream and stir.
Step 7: Pour mixture into 4oz-6oz ramekins and place them in a 9 X 13 baking dish.

Step 8: Pour water around the ramekins (in the baking dish) until water is half way up the ramekins. Carefully place the baking dish into the oven and bake for 35 minutes or until the middle is set.
Step 9: Let cool on the counter and then place in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours.
Step 10: Add 1 tablespoon of sugar on top and torch to make sugar caramelize. Enjoy!
